1st Annual Great PEN Contest - 2004The year 2004 was the first year that we ran the Great PEN Contest. It was so much fun that we decided to do it again in 2005!
When we asked the question, "Where in the WORLD has your PEN BEEN?" little did we know that people would take their North Bay Mortgage pens to so many wonderful destinations around the world. And when we had our first annual Great PEN Party, many of our guests were overheard saying ...
You went WHERE?"
You put the PEN THERE?"
That was the year that Debbi Robertson and Janet Joslyn were introduced by Mike Boyle as the lucky winners of the first annual Great PEN Contest.
 Debbi journeyed over 11,000 miles to the Kingdom of Swaziland on the southeast coast of the continent of Africa with her NBM PEN. She didn't submit her contest entry until the day before deadline, thus seeming to appear out of nowhere to claim the prize for "FARTHEST DISTANCE" in the Great PEN Contest. In fact, when she turned in her photos at our Gig Harbor office, Bek Ashby got so excited she forgot to ask for Debbi's name - which caused a bit of a panic when it was confirmed that Debbi was the winner.
But not to worry, Debbi showed up at the Great PEN Party and was recognized and welcomed immediately by North Bay Mortgage staff, who were on the lookout for the "mystery traveler" who went all the way to Africa. It was easy to recognize Debbi because of course ... we had a PHOTO of her!
 Janet Joslyn had the bright idea to stash a North Bay Mortgage pen in a Time Capsule labeled 2004 and bury it beneath the footings of Reid Real Estate's brand new building on State Route 3 in Belfair, where she works. For that unique and extraordinary action, Janet won the prize for MOST UNUSUAL LOCATION.
