Taste of Hood Canal
Belfair's "Taste of Hood Canal"
 |
| Mike and the NBM PEN Man check out the classic cars on display at this year's Taste of Hood Canal in Belfair. |
Hundreds of people flock to downtown Belfair on the second Saturday in August for the North Mason Rotary Club's annual "Taste of Hood Canal." The weather is usually perfect, as people visit the many food vendors and sample a variety of yummy and "tasty" treats, including the world famous North Mason Chamber of Commerce grilled oysters. The North Bay Mortgage PEN Man strolls through the crowd in the PEN suit. He is quite a hit and brings smiles to both children and adults wherever he goes. North Bay Mortgage provides live music for the event with performances by popular local bands. The classic car show grows larger every year, with nearly 100 shiny entries on display. And just for FUN, we have our big yellow antique fire truck on display, too! Mike Boyle is a past president and active member of the North Mason Rotary, which is a service club that provides money and support to many local school and community projects. Net proceeds from the Taste of Hood Canal are used for college scholarships, Relay for Life, North Mason Literacy program, the North Mason Christmas community event, North Mason Food Bank, Rebuild America and the Boys and Girls Club/ North Mason Branch. To our friends in the Belfair and North Mason area, thanks for stopping by our booth!
